Mortka

Mortka (Mordysława) Kędra (born July 28, 2019) is a Scottish cat known for her appearance in a series of cartoons Mortka and Małysz.

Early life and career

Mortka was born on July 28, 2019 in Tain, Scotland. She is a tri-colour calico cat , one of four siblings, the other being all black males. She moved to Aberdeen in September 2019 and still lives there. Since November 2020, she has a sister called Małysz with whom they star in a series of cartoons Mortka and Małysz. Both are frequently seen on the Corunna Moor in the area of Bridge of Don in Aberdeen.

Other characteristics

She is a skilled hunter and a passionate tree climber. Although friendly towards people, she is not keen on other cats. She can communicate well with her owners and can employ at least four different types of meowing for passing different information. Both Mortka and Małysz go for routine walks with their owners.

Origin of the name and other names

Mortka is named after a fictional character Jakub Mortka from a series of crime stories by Wojciech Chmielarz. She is most frequently called Mordysława, or simply Morda, by her owners. Together with Małysz, they are collectively referred to as Głupce (Polish for Fools). Before moving to Aberdeen, she was called Balbina by her first owners.
